Regıonal Innovatıve Potentıal of Türkiye in The Context of Regıonal Innovatıon System

Abstract

This study has aimed to determine  effectiveness in using innovative potential of Türkiye according to NUTS 3 level. In the study preferring PCA-DEA approach as the method, the output variable is the number of patents, utility models, trademarks and designs per thousand persons. In the study, the inputs displaying the innovative potential of the provinces have based on three basic subsystems of the regional innovation system. Depending on this, input variables have been represented by variables related to the industrial sector, research centers and public policies. In addition, input variables related to the basic infrastructure of the province have also been included in the study. Thus, it has been used 11 input variables in four categories in the analysis of the study. According to the results of the study, TR721 Kayseri has been the only efficient decision making unit  in four different DEA models. The other two provinces following Kayseri are TR100 Istanbul and TRC11 Gaziantep.
