A Recommendation For The Evaluation And Monitoring Of Development Projects: Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

There are many definitions in the literature on development. These definitions, which differ from each other from time to time, are ultimately expressed as "changes or positive changes in the structural situation of a country". Although there is a wealth of “definitions” for development, there is no definition of development institutions. Geographic Information Systems that will contribute to the evaluation of development projects; It can be characterized as collecting data, processing it, transforming it into useful information and using the obtained information based on space and maps. Its importance comes from this definition.
In this study, the definition of "development organizations", which we cannot find in the literature and national legislation, will be tried to be made by making use of the experiences in the development sector. At the same time, the contribution of the use of geographic information systems in the project evaluation and monitoring processes of development institutions will be emphasized and suggestions for the establishment of a GIS-based evaluation and monitoring system in development studies and projects in our country will be listed.
